Startup Visa Act of 2010 – Victory Update #1

by spm on February 24, 2010

Many are aware Vidli and the Blue-footed Boobies support the Startup Visa. Today there was a victory!

We are thrilled to announce Senators John Kerry (D-MA) & Richard Lugar (R-IN) today introduced The Startup Visa Act in Washington. Some may remember our epic blog post about the Lord of the Visa where we outlined the major players in the Startup Visa Movement. In light of today’s events we’ve posted our first round of updates – unashamedly named “Victory Updates.”

The Startup Visa Act proposes legislation to modify the existing EB-5 Visa in order to drive job creation in the US and increase American global competitiveness.  This would enable immigrant entrepreneurs who are creating new companies to secure visas to come to the United States, if there is investment capital available from a sponsoring US venture capital or angel investor of at least $100,000 in an equity financing of not less than $250,000.

Stay tuned for more information. Check out the Lord of the Visa (our take),  Brad Feld’s blog or the StartupVisa.com for more information.
