SNL takes far less profit with YouTube and Hulu combined

Hulu on YouTubeSo, I ran into a video article today on YouTube that was published by Hulu. Not sure if you all see the irony in this, but hulu is an ad supported network who has cut a short cut out of their programming to relay to YouTube to get a cut of advertising on a 3rd party. This sounds smart at first, but if you realize that SNL, the authors of this content are getting a split of a split, it really doesn’t make sense. Why doesn’t NBC go directly with the publisher and make the comission? Lazyness? Maybe….

On the other hand, Vidli would let NBC license their content directly, and get all commissions outside of the base price and credit card transaction fees. Which in this case, where people wanted to see it over 20 million times, could have literally been 20 million dollars if they simply sold the video at the same cost as found on iTunes for the music download as they could get streamed directly to their interface of choice on Vidli.

Hopefully now you can see the irony of what’s happening here and what could really be made possible. Vidli doesn’t just let content owners be able to make significant profits, it let’s major networks do their thing the way it should be done.
